I don’t want to feel bad.
I don’t want debt. And I certainly don’t want to feel alone.
I want peace and harmony, and to be financially independent.
So, the above statements are in direct opposition to each other. Saying one to counter with the next is creating conflict to the universe and to yourself. The wish is there, to have something meaningful, yet the “Now of misery” is sustained by confirming the opposite.
By saying “I don’t want to feel bad” we’re sending out, at least in part, “I want to feel bad”. The “don’t” has little power. It’s just two words out of seven that we use to convey our message.
If I wish to have a company in my life, a partner or friendship, I must focus on that.
On what I want. Not on what I don’t want.
When my alarm goes off in the morning, I have a few hours in a day to align myself with my dreams, act on opportunities given and visualize, pray and give thanks for what I already have, to receive more.
If I were to spend my days, or hours really, focusing on what I don’t want, then my time is wasted and there’d be no room for projecting my dreams and goals to the universe that brings forth my wishes. Somehow it brought everything to me already. Whether I wished for it deliberately or brought it upon myself subconsciously I received it either way.
So in becoming clean and sober, I had to focus my mind on what I want: clean, sober, fruitful, honest, loving, compassionate, humble, slow, peaceful, relaxed and God-centered-feelings in my day.
Carl Jung said, “What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size.”
Imagine you don’t like attention from strangers. So you’re walking around, projecting out “Don’t look at me” or “Don’t talk to me”. Now, most people in this world try and help each other and will probably ask you “Are you OK? Can I help you?”
And there you go. You just received exactly what you didn’t want.
What you probably want is to feel better. So then focus your mind on what makes people feel better. When it comes to activities we can all enjoy and that is healthy in its natural core, nature is a great healer. Take a long calm walk. Breathe deeply. In through the nose, and out through the mouth.
If you can’t find nature where you are, look up some really beautiful pictures of nature and start imagining what it feels like to be there. If you have a memory of a beach, a forest or the mountains – bring back that memory and find the feelings of it. Those feelings will start to produce the same hormones in your body that were produced when you were at your favorite spot in person. Only by bringing the mind in alignment with what makes you feel good.
Don’t believe that?
Ok so think of some really bad people. The evil things we do to each other. Injustice. Killing and murdering innocent people. For only one minute!
How does that make you feel?
And you haven’t even left the room. You haven’t raised a finger to anyone. Yet you can bring forth those negative emotions in your body. That is not good for our bodies. Not for the mind and not for our well being.
Which brings the question, to me at least; What do newspapers and reports on TV do to our well being?
So focus on what we want, instead of what we don’t want.
Do we want Love? And Peace?
Then that is what we focus on, no matter what goes on in the world.
Pray and give thanks to our ever loving Father – Christ Jesus, for all the love and peace we’ve been able to feel as a collective over thousands of years. We have the ability to feel and bring about exactly that, so let’s set our minds to Love and Peace.
One day at a time.
